VP Community Hospital President - Viera Administration

Job Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Hospital President is accountable to the President of the Health First Hospital Division 

for the administration, direction, coordination, management and leadership of community hospital 

operations. The Community Hospital President is responsible for organizing, planning, controlling and 

coordinating resources to provide quality patient care in a cost-effective manner in accordance with the 

Health First mission. The Community Hospital President will lead nursing, clinical, and non-clinical on-site operations.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES 

1. Directs hospital operations, ensuring alignment with organization goals, regulatory compliance, 

and high-quality patient care. 

2. Works closely with the Hospital Division President, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief 

Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the 

respective hospital CMO, Vice President of Nursing (VPN), and Director of Operations plus all 

medical staff to drive strategic initiatives, operation efficiency, and continuous improvement.

3. Establishes and maintains effective leadership structure, defining responsibilities, and 

optimizing workflows across the hospital departments to enhance overall performance. 

4. Leads policy development, implementation, and compliance with all regulatory standards, 

including The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and 

state health agencies.

5. Partners with medical staff and hospital leadership to integrate clinical expertise into hospital 

decision-making. Oversees quality of care, patient safety initiatives, and professional 

development programs to ensure best practices and optimal patient outcomes.

6. Ensures hospital readiness for accreditation certification, and licensure by developing and 

maintaining policies that meet or exceed all state, federal, and industry standards.

7. Leads emergency preparedness, risk management, and safety programs to mitigate operations 

risks, and avoid losses.

8. Leads efforts to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and hospital-wide performance 

improvement initiatives. Analyzing patient safety indicators, tracking performance metrics, and 

implementing corrective measures to address any deficiencies found and ensure high standards 

of care overall.

9. Represents the hospital in external engagements, service as key liaison with healthcare 

agencies, community organizations, government entities, and business partners to strengthen 

hospital presence and community impact.

mission and vision of Health First and inspire the team to achieve that vision.

2. Provide leadership, motivation, coaching, feedback and support to foster and strengthen growth 

and development of an effective, high performing team.

3. Lead change through effective communication, explaining the connection and value to the 

organization, creating stronger buy-in and urgency, while understanding impact to the team to 

obtain commitment.

4. Demonstrate openness to hearing diverse ideas and thoughts; create a sense of inclusivity; and 

encourage collaboration across teams to help break down silos to meet the team’s and 

organization’s goals. 

5. Recruit, select, grow, and retain highly engaged, high performing diverse and inclusive 

associates.

6. Display strong strategic and financial acumen in areas of responsibility in alignment with the 

organization's strategic objectives.



Work Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

• Education: Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or 

relevant field.

• Work Experience: Five (5) years’ progressive management and administrative experience 

within a Healthcare setting.

• Licensure: None

• Certification: None

• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

   o Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

   o Ability to continually assess the environment and prioritize accordingly.

   o Demonstrated expertise in leadership, and building effective relationships with 

   physicians.

   o Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

   o Ability to participate in professional or civic organizations and community activities.

   o Ability to work effectively and efficiently in often stressful environments.

   o Adaptable to rapidly changing situations or environments.

   o Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple priorities at once and handle a 

   demanding work schedule.

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Work Experience: Ten (10) years’ progressive management and administrative experience 

within a Healthcare setting

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping. 

• Long periods of computer time or at workstation.

• Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.

• May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low 

to moderate noise. 

• Communicating with others to exchange information.

• Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.

• Workspace may vary from open to confined, onsite, or remote.

• May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of 

personal vehicle.
