This position is responsible to provide leadership, direction, business acumen, and oversight for a diverse group of revenue-generating auxiliary units that support student life, academic, development, and community enrichment activities, emphasizing excellent customer service while optimizing revenue and operating margin contributions. This position provides day-to-day leadership, guidance, direction, and oversight of crucial Auxiliary Service functions supporting the College’s mission and strategic plan. The Executive Director represents Oklahoma City Community College in regular interactions and communications with employees, students, advisory boards, vendors/suppliers, interdepartmental units, and external parties. The Executive Director seeks to maximize service opportunities that improve student retention and increase graduation rates, and student success by providing students, faculty, and staff with a variety of offerings, convenience, and quality, which are essential aspects of retention and community. This position reports to the Executive Vice President (EVP).

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality or related field

Minimum 5 years’ experience directly managing complex, high-volume enterprises with demonstrated successful outcomes.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge:

In-depth understanding of auxiliary enterprise operations within a higher education setting, especially food service, performing arts, and retail bookstore management.
 

Strong knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, and performance evaluation, including revenue generation, cost containment, and fund stewardship aligned with OCCC’s fiscal priorities.
 

Familiarity with the mission and service culture of OCCC, including its commitment to student access, community engagement, and affordability.
 

Contract management and vendor oversight expertise, including food service providers, performing arts production partners, and textbook/merchandise suppliers.
 

Knowledge of facility operations and event management, particularly for multipurpose venues like the Visual and Performing Arts Center.
 

Understanding of Oklahoma procurement laws, institutional policies, and public education regulatory compliance relevant to auxiliary functions.



Skills:

Strategic business planning skills to assess, design, and implement sustainable business models that support institutional goals and enhance non-tuition revenue.
 

Budget development and financial analysis skills, with the ability to manage complex budgets across diverse auxiliary units and deliver clear, actionable financial reporting.

Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders (faculty, staff, and students) and external collaborators (vendors, arts organizations, local businesses).
 

Adapt and modernize business practices, leveraging innovation, technology, and industry trends to enhance operational outcomes and customer satisfaction.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 10 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

This position requires the person to frequently move about the OCCC campus and offsite locations.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to vendors, administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside business partners others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently operate a computer, other office machinery, and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.

This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

This position performs the essential functions in an indoor office setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in business or management or closely related field.


Previous work experience in an institution of higher education environment is preferred.

Required Training

Quarterly compliance training as assigned by institution.

Work Hours

8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; evenings and weekends as required.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement)

Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all auxiliary business units, including campus food services, the Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC), and the OCCC Bookstore.
 

Develop and manage annual budgets for each auxiliary unit, ensuring financial sustainability, appropriate cost controls, and alignment with the College’s fiscal goals.
 

Evaluate and optimize business models for each area, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency, improved service delivery, and enhanced revenue generation.
 

Supervise and support departmental managers and staff, cultivating a collaborative, service-oriented culture that reflects the College’s mission and values.
 

Oversee vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring high-quality services, compliance with procurement standards, and accountability to performance benchmarks.
 

Lead strategic planning efforts for auxiliary services, including long-range goals, capital investment needs, pricing strategies, and customer satisfaction initiatives.
 

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for each unit and use data to drive improvements in profitability, customer service, and operational effectiveness.
 

Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including those governing food safety, public assembly, retail operations, and financial reporting.
 

Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to support student success, instructional needs, campus life, and community partnerships.
 

Serve as the primary liaison for campus-wide events and external rentals of the VPAC, including negotiations, scheduling, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
 

All sponsorship arrangements and external rentals involving sponsorships must be coordinated with and approved by the College’s Advancement and External Affairs division.
 

Prepare and present reports to senior leadership, the Board of Regents, and other stakeholders, highlighting trends, performance, and recommendations for growth or change.
 

Oversee marketing and promotional efforts to increase visibility and utilization of auxiliary services, particularly community-facing services such as the VPAC.
 

Ensure high standards of customer service across all auxiliary units, responding proactively to student, employee, and community feedback.
 

Lead or support special projects related to new initiatives, major events, or institutional priorities involving auxiliary services.
 

Stay current on industry trends and best practices in campus auxiliary services and incorporate relevant innovations into OCCC’s operations.
 

Perform other duties and assigned.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.
 

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
